I hate marketing calls - do you too?

Ok Folks, There is the 'do not call log' but it doesn't seem to work. I get calls all the time at home, on cell, even my work cell which isn't a listed number. So what is there to do about it? I thought of: . Give up my phone and live in a text world only. But I'm starting to get junk text messages too . Skype, but same problem would hit this too. . Stop talking or communicating completely, nah too dramatic. I'll keep thinking of ideas, but maybe one of you had an idea. If you did you could win $50,000 from the goverment. Check this out http://robocall.challenge.gov/ Let's see if we can solve this problem - submit your ideas and then we can all sit down to a quite dinner :)

Watching the LInkedIn IPO

This is the first time I've watched an IPO waiting to jump in.
It is early in the morning and I'm up waiting. When the IPO opens it doesn't always open at the start of the market - sometimes it takes a while - so here I sit and wait.

But I'm not patient so I started searching every search site & instant site for info. I needed to know two pieces of data "when it would open so I could buy some" and "at what price would it open". After much digging I went to twitter and found some instant news... lets see.

What a Great Deal!

Do you link going to restaurants, are you interested in trying out new places without it costing as much as normal?

Check out http://www.restaurant.com/

When we first started using the site, we thought it was too good to be true. But it works. We have found ourselves going out more often because it was saving us a lot of money each time. In fact, depending on the restaurants and the deals, when you consider left overs we can get almost two full meals (for a family of 3) for 1/2 the price.

A quick hint - when you do sign up you'll find the deal is really good. However, near the end of the month the site will send out offers for 60-90% of the cost value. So you can get a $25 off cupon for < $3.

Hope you enjoy your experience as much as we do.

LinkedIn IPO

Is it worth purchasing into the LinkedIn IPO? The strength seems to be on the breath of connections & the value of people using this for job opportunities.

Given how many people are connected on LinkedIn, how much it is growing and how everyone I've met routinuely asks about 'linkingUp' it seems like this will be a valuable place to invest.

George Washington was a real guy too

My family recently visited Mount Vernon.
I saw the house years ago but the tour has been expanded substantially.

Expect to spend about 4 or so hours.
There is a visitor's center with a couple of cool/interactive movies. Lots of interesting history and displays, and great learnings for kids. And the house is beautiful.

Aside from all the relevant history we learned, we also discovered a few surprising facts. George Washington was a very successful businessman - he expanded his farms and crops and his most successful business ended up being distilling and selling Whiskey.

The Value of Culture in Business and America

Why does the way you treat and interact with other people effect the economy? Why does adding respect and appreciation of the people and businesses you work with help others want to trust you and invest with you and purchase what you are selling?

I believe people are what matter and the stuff you sell is just a part of satisfying other people. Check this out:

Check out this http://www.getstoried.com/2010/02/23/culture-as-competitive-advantage/ for info about a 'Chief Culture Officer' - this looks facinating.

How about 'calm' as a value of leadership - http://leadershipfreak.wordpress.com/2010/02/22/the-power-of-calm/ this is a great blog - take a few minutes to actually read it and absorb it.

Let me know what you think.
